BLOG:  In October 2010, Strawberry Hill House reopened its doors following a major restoration, welcoming the first visitors back into Horace Walpole’s “little Gothic castle.” Fifteen years later, we reflect on the extraordinary achievement of saving this unique building — from years of campaigning and fundraising to the dedication of staff and volunteers who brought the house back to life. 

NEWS: Earlier this month, we carried out a full conservation clean of the Long Gallery and Great North Bedchamber —specialists from Virtu Conservation Housekeeping carefully brush-vacuumed, surface-cleaned, and dusted delicate gilding, damask walls, paintings and fan-vaulted ceilings. Funded by the Stern Family Charitable Trust, the work is part of our ongoing preventive conservation programme, ensuring our treasures remain safeguarded for generations to come.

BLOG: Monthly Feel-Good Garden workshops at Strawberry Hill House bring together gardening, art, and sensory activities for older people, including those living with dementia and their carers. From planting herbs to creating wreaths, the sessions offer gentle exercise, creative expression, and a welcoming space to connect. Alongside, our Sensory Trail invites visitors to explore the garden through sight, sound, scent, and touch — making the most of nature’s power to spark joy and wellbeing.
